Airbnb Bedroom Photography: Make Every Room a Selling Point

The bedroom photo does one job

A guest looking at your bedroom photo is answering a single question: will I sleep well here. Everything in the frame either supports that answer or distracts from it. Bedrooms are also the room hosts most often under-photograph, usually one hurried frame from the doorway with the bed pushed to the edge.

Two angles per bedroom, minimum

Shoot the wide from the corner that puts the bed roughly a third into the frame, not centred and not clipped. Then take a second frame from the opposite side. Two angles let a guest build a mental floor plan of the room, and that is what makes a space feel real instead of staged.

Hold the camera at lightswitch height, around 48 inches. This is the single most common mistake in bedroom photography. Chest or eye height makes you shoot down at the bed, which flattens it and makes the room look smaller than it is. Lower puts the mattress edge across the frame like a wall.

Make the bed properly

The bed is the subject, and a made bed and a photographed bed are not the same standard.

• Iron or steam the duvet cover. Creases read as dirty at full resolution even when they are not.
• Pull the bottom sheet tight and square the duvet so the overhang matches on both sides.
• Pillows stood up against the headboard, not flat. Chop the top of each one lightly so it holds shape.
• Two or three cushions maximum. More looks like a showroom.
• Nightstands cleared except one lamp and maybe one book.

Lamps on, overheads off

Turn on the bedside lamps and leave the ceiling light off. Lamps give the room warmth and depth; a bare overhead flattens everything and throws a hard shadow behind the headboard. Open the blinds fully and let daylight carry the room.

The details that sell the room

After the two wide frames, look for one close shot: blackout curtains actually drawn, a reading light over the bed, a luggage rack, a ceiling fan in a hot market. Arizona guests in particular scan for cooling and for genuine blackout. If you have those, photograph them rather than mentioning them in the description where nobody reads.
